Phil Richards
Phil Richards PT, DPT, is owner and founder of Timpanogos Physical Therapy. He was born in Alberta, Canada and then lived in Minnesota and Washington while his father finished his Doctorate Degree until his family settled in Utah at the age of seven where his father worked as a Professor of Psychology at BYU. Phil graduated from Spanish Fork High School, and went on to receive his Bachelor’s in exercise science from Brigham Young University.
Following his bachelor’s degree, he graduated from Franklin Pierce University in Goodyear, Arizona as a Doctor of Physical Therapy. At a young age, Phil was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. In working with doctors and other medical providers to treat the arthritis, he realized that he wanted to pursue a profession in the medical field so he could also help people with their medical issues.
He acutely remembers how grateful he was and still is to the medical professionals who helped him continue to enjoy his active life. His want to similarly help others and his natural passion for sports and an active lifestyle, He ultimately found his passion in physical therapy and works each day to help his patients heal and improve their quality of life.
Phil’s number one goal each day is to improve the lives of his patients and employees, who fondly refer to him as Doctor Phil. As part of his education, training, and work experience, he has had the opportunity to work with professional athletes for the Cleveland Indians baseball team, in acute care hospitals, outpatient sports rehab clinics, and home health physical therapy. In 2017 he founded Timpanogos Physical Therapy with the goal of providing quality and affordable healthcare for the local community.
As he continually works to improve his practice, Phil was among the first to embrace and implement the breakthrough technology of shockwave therapy as part of his treatments. He has since seen tremendous success implementing shockwave treatments with traditional physical therapy techniques in helping people accelerate their recovery time and decrease pain. Outside of work, Phil continues to enjoy an active lifestyle of fishing, camping, hunting, boating, ice hockey, and spending time with his family and friends.
