Most people track progress with one number: weight. The problem? That number doesn’t tell you what’s changing—or if your hard work is actually paying off.
At Timpanogos Physical Therapy, we use ShapeScale, an advanced 3D body scanner and body composition analyzer, to give you a much clearer picture. In less than a minute, you can:
See a 3D visual model of your body
Get detailed body fat and lean mass estimates
Track circumference and volume changes over time
Compare before-and-after 3D views of your progress
It’s a powerful tool for anyone working on body sculpting, aesthetics, or overall wellness—whether you’re doing sculpting with us or just want better data on your health journey.
What Is ShapeScale?
ShapeScale is a smart 3D body scanner and scale in one. You step onto a small platform while a sensor arm slowly rotates around you, using harmless imaging to capture a detailed 3D model of your body—no radiation, no pinching calipers, no awkward tape measurements.
You get a visual and numerical snapshot of where you’re at today—and a way to clearly see how your body changes over time.
Why We Use 3D Body Scans
Traditional scales can’t tell you:
If you’re losing fat but building muscle
Whether your waist, hips, and thighs are shrinking even when the number barely moves
How your body is re-shaping and tightening after sculpting sessions or lifestyle changes
ShapeScale helps answer those questions, so you’re not left guessing.
Perfect for Sculpting & Aesthetic Goals
If you’re doing EMS body sculpting, red light, or other aesthetic services, ShapeScale helps you:
Capture clear before-and-after 3D views
Track inches lost around the waist, hips, thighs, arms, and glutes
See tightening, lifting, and contouring changes that don’t always show up on a regular scale
It’s one thing to hear that your body is changing. It’s another to see it in 3D.
Ideal for Wellness & Body Composition Tracking
You don’t have to be doing sculpting to use ShapeScale. Many people use it as a standalone wellness tool to:
Monitor body fat and lean mass as they improve nutrition and exercise
Track changes in circumferences (waist, hips, arms, thighs, etc.)
Stay motivated when the bathroom scale feels discouraging
If your goal is better body composition, not just a lower number, ShapeScale gives you much better feedback.
How a ShapeScale Scan Works
A scan is quick, simple, and done fully clothed (form-fitting clothing works best):
Step on the ShapeScale platform You stand in a relaxed, comfortable position.
The scanner arm rotates around you In under a minute, it captures your body from all angles and builds a 3D model.
Your results are generated You get body composition estimates, circumferences, and a 3D avatar.
We review it together We’ll walk you through the numbers and visuals in plain language.
Repeat scans show your progress Over time, you can view side-by-side 3D comparisons and measurement changes so you can literally see your transformation.
What ShapeScale Measures (In Plain English)
ShapeScale provides:
Body fat percentage
Lean mass estimates (how much of you is muscle and other lean tissue)
Regional volume and shape changes (for example, shrinking waist or lifting glutes)
3D visual comparisons from scan to scan
We’ll help interpret the data and tie it back to your goals—whether that’s a flatter midsection, more definition, or overall health improvements.
Can ShapeScale Be Used on Its Own?
Yes. You can use ShapeScale:
As a standalone service for body composition and progress tracking
In conjunction with EMS body sculpting and other aesthetic services to document your results
We’ll help you choose the scan frequency that makes sense—some people like a baseline plus a few follow-ups, others enjoy more regular tracking.
FAQs
Does it hurt or use radiation? No. A ShapeScale scan is completely non-invasive and uses no radiation. You simply stand still while the arm rotates around you.
How long does it take? Most scans take under a minute, plus a few minutes to review your results.
How often should I scan? For sculpting programs, we often recommend scans at baseline and key milestones (for example, before starting, midway, and at the end). For general wellness, every 4–8 weeks is a good rhythm.
Do I have to see my 3D avatar? You’re in control. Some people love seeing their full 3D model; others prefer focusing on the measurements and trends. We’ll go at your pace.
